GERALD W. HADDOCK, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Chairman of the Board. He was elected Executive Chairman of the Board on August 11, 2023, and subsequently appointed CEO by the Executive Committee on December 8, 2023. Haddock has served as a Director since mid-2020, during which time he chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee and served as a member of the Audit Committee. In late 2022, the Silver Star Board established an Executive Committee of the Board; later in 2023, Haddock was appointed as its Executive Chairman. According to the Committee’s charter, the Executive Committee holds the full authority of the Board.

 

Haddock has served as a Director of ProFrac Holding Corp. since mid-2022. He was also a Founder and Director of Union Acquisition Corp. I, which successfully merged with Bioceres Crop Solutions Corp. He was also aFounder and Director of Union Acquisition Corp. II, which merged with Procaps Group, S.A.

 

At the end of 2023, Haddock retired from the Board of Directors at Meritage Homes Corporation (MHC), where he served nearly 20 years. MHC, publicly traded on NASDAQ, builds single-family detached homes throughout the U.S., as well as active adult communities and luxury real estate primarily in Arizona. As a Director for MHC, Haddock chaired the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and served on the Audit Committee.

 

Haddock co-founded Crescent Real Estate Equities, a diversified real estate investment trust, serving as its President, CEO, and COO, growing the company to over $8 billion in market capitalization. Additionally, Haddock was a Founder and Director at Valaris Plc. (formerly ENSCO International Plc.), a global leader in offshore oil and gas drilling services, for over three decades. At Valaris, he served as Co-Lead Director, Chairperson of the Audit Committee, and a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee. During his tenure, he was instrumental in leading mergers, acquisitions, strategic development, governance, and succession planning.

 

Haddock also served on various boards and committees, including Cano Petroleum, the CEELI Institute, Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees, and the Executive Investment Committees at Baylor University and Baylor College of Medicine. He was also on the Board of the M.D. Anderson Proton Therapy Foundation. Furthermore, he led the acquisition team purchasing the Texas Rangers, serving as minority owner and General Counsel alongside George W. Bush. He currently serves on the Board of the Johnny Unitas Foundation.

 

Haddock holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from Baylor University, a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University, and an MBA from Dallas Baptist University.

Chief Operating Officer

 

David Wheeler is the Chief Operating Officer for Silver Star Properties REIT, Inc and President of affiliates of the Company. He has over thirty-five years of experience in the acquisition, disposition, financing, and leasing of commercial real estate investments.

 

At the firm, David’s responsibilities include sourcing investment opportunities in self-storage, shopping centers, office buildings, and industrial properties, to closing, ownership transition, asset management, and disposition. He oversees the company’s capital markets activities, including acquisition, financing, and disposition programs. He sits on the company’s finance committee and oversees the firm’s leasing and marketing activities.

 

Prior to joining Silver Star Properties REIT in January 2003, David carried out a 16-year tenure with CBRE. At CBRE, he served as Vice President of the Investment Services Division where he successfully completed the sale of over nine million square feet throughout the South-Central U.S., including thirteen self-storage facilities. While at CBRE, David represented Storage Trust, now an entity of Public Storage, and its DFW expansion.

 

David’s educational background includes an MBA with a concentration in Real Estate from Southern Methodist University and a BS in Civil Engineering with an option in Construction Management from Texas A&M University.

Louis T. Fox, III

Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer

 

Louis T. Fox, III is our Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. He has responsibility for financial reporting, accounting, treasury, and investor relations.

 

Prior to joining Silver Star Properties REIT in March, 2007, Lou served as Chief Financial Officer of Legacy Brands, a restaurant group from April 2006 until January 2007. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Unidynamics, Inc., a specialized EPC manufacturer of unique handling system solutions for the marine and energy industries from January 2004 until April 2006. He also served as Treasurer and CFO of Goodman Manufacturing, a major manufacturer of residential and commercial HVAC products for 9 years prior to that. In addition to his years of experience in the manufacturing industry, he has served in senior financial positions in the construction and debt collection service concerns. Lou is a former practicing certified public accountant.

 

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He started his career as a tax accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co.
